Want edgy, progressive, socially critical theatre?
"We live in dangerous times. Theatre must too become dangerous". J Karol Korczynski
The Canada House Artistic Cooperative is dedicated to restoring that important thread in theatre tradition - a thread best exemplified by the Group Theatre in 1930's New York, Brecht’s Berliner Ensemble or perhaps more recently, the collective around Dario Fo. This tradition was on the verge of disappearing altogether with the crisis of socialist, even classical liberal thought in the 1990's.
Our group was formed to help revive that legacy of systemic social challenge and to answer those who insisted that the forces of the market had triumphed once and for all; that there was no alternative to a self-satisfied, corporate agenda and its reproduction in many contemporary entertainment outlets.
